Children’s Hope Residential Services, Inc. provides placement for abused and neglected children across the state of Texas. Abuse and neglect causes trauma that influences how these children cope with their environment. Add on top of the original trauma the fact that these children have been removed from their homes and you have a child who is hurting deep down inside. They are confused, lonely, scared, angry, and often feel misplaced guilt for their situation.

Many of the above mentioned children come to Children’s Hope Residential Services from low income families and have little to no personal possessions. When Children’s Hope finds them placement, we ensure that they have clothing, toiletries, and everything that is needed to keep them warm, clean, and healthy. We also make sure they have plenty of activities for education and recreation.

Children need more than just the bare necessities. Some require transitional objects, like teddy bears or a special blanket. Others simply need a toy they can call their own. Children’s Hope Residential Services works diligently with donors, especially Toys for Tots during the Christmas season, to ensure that these needs are also met.

Some of the children have CASA workers and may receive gifts of toys from their CASA. However, there are far more children in care than there are CASA workers in Texas. Donations come from a variety of sources, including churches, employees, local and regional businesses, and individual members of the community. For instance, recently a group of girls at one of our campuses received a donation of hula hoops from a Children’s Hope employee. The hula hoops were a great surprise to the girls and provided a lot of interactive fun.

Although Children’s Hope Residential Services works to provide every child with these opportunities, there is always a need for donations. If you would like to get help, please contact Allison Boroda, Director of Advancement at (806) 897-9735 extension 2714 and ask how you can get involved!
